Children aged six months to five years are to be offered the swine flu vaccine in the coming months. Parents will be contacted by their GP when the vaccine becomes available.

New Director of Finance Appointed
Mark Orchard has been appointed as Director of Finance Information and Performance for NHS Bournemouth and Poole. Mark has been filling the role on an interim basis since the departure of the previous Director earlier this year.

DVD launched to help fight infection
A new DVD has been launched by NHS organisations in Bournemouth and Poole to encourage people to think about how they can prevent infection at home, in the community and when coming into hospital.
MRSA plummets by 90% in Bournemouth and Poole
MRSA infections in Bournemouth and Poole have been reduced by around 90% over the last two years. Staff from both hospitals are carrying on the battle against superbugs by fronting a brand new ‘Clean Your Hands’ campaign.
The figures, which come from the Health Protection Agency, are collected from both hospitals and show just how successful developments in hygiene practice have been.

Out of 1,200 patients, only a third arrive in time for emergency treatment
Around 1,200 people in Bournemouth and Poole have a stroke every year. But only a third of these around 400 people arrive in time to be assessed for treatment which could save lives and prevent disability.
